Welcome to the sleep apnea section of Stop Weighting, Start Doing! In this section, you’ll find tips about living and sleeping with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). I will share posts about the diagnosis process, as well as how to maintain your continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine. We want to ensure you get the best sleep possible, and this means we need to properly treat your OSA. You’ll also find encouragement to stick with your CPAP therapy. I know adjusting to sleep with a mask can be difficult. If you’re unsure about something relating to your OSA, be sure to phone your doctor to ask him or her any questions you may have.
Obstructive sleep apnea can be a devasting diagnosis. After all, it means you stop breathing in your sleep. However, effective treatment does exist and can be used to live a long, healthy life. Besides, after you lose weight with bariatric surgery, you may no longer have OSA. I know it’s a scary situation though, which is why I’m including this section to help bring some comfort to you. You are not alone, and we are on this journey together!
