Welcome to the exercising before and after surgery section of Stop Weighting, Start Doing! In this section, you’ll find posts that inspire you to get active, whether it be at home, in your neighborhood or at the gym. You don’t need fancy equipment to get a good workout, but certainly joining a gym can keep you motivated to keep exercising. Exercise is good for your soul, it helps release emotional stress and is a great form of self-care. It’s also one of the most under-utilized anti-depressants!
Exercising Before and After Surgery
Exercise is one of the four key areas we need to focus on to be successful with bariatric surgery. Not only are you burning fat, but you’re also toning your skin. As you work out and stretch the body, you’re firing up your skin cells. When they cool down, they shrink a little. While it won’t completely eliminate your loose skin after surgery, it will certainly help!
In this section, you’ll also find more information on the following categories:
Getting Started–Here is where my exercise newbies want to start. You’ll find tips on starting a home gym, how to make exercise a consistent habit and motivation for joining a gym if you so desire.
Exercising at Home–I know that exercising at a gym can be intimidating, which is why many people (including me!) start by exercising at home. I used exercise DVDs and On-Demand workouts, as well as hand weights and resistance bands. You’ll find more information on these topics, and so much more in this section.
Exercising at the Gym–Coming soon! Check back for updates on posts. I publish posts twice a week!
