As bariatric patients, it’s super important that we get our protein, as our bodies don’t naturally produce any protein. Protein helps with healing and keeps us fuller longer. The more protein you eat, the more weight you can lose. Try a new recipe today and let me know how you like it! I also try to find new spins on old comfort foods. Since most comfort foods are high in carbs and sugar, we need to modify these recipes to get the nutrients we need to be bariatric warriors.

What does a healthy bariatric recipe contain? Well it’s high in protein, and low in sugar and fat. We substitute high fat ingredients for their lower-fat friends. However, it also has to be delicious because who doesn’t love food? Healthy bariatric recipes strike the balance between delicious and bariatric-friendly so that we can still enjoy so many of the foods we once loved. A lot of times our new tummies can’t handle some of our old favorites, so we have to come up with new alternatives.
